Connect a Shopify store
About two minutes. Your store starts collecting reviews as soon as the app is installed; the steps below connect it to this website as well, so you can read and reply from either place.

Install Reviewit from the Shopify App Store and open it in your Shopify admin. Your store is connected the moment it opens, with nothing to copy.

In the app, click Connect in the left menu, then Issue a connection key. The key ID and the secret appear, and the secret is shown once.

Press the button that opens this website. It asks one question, "Connect your shop to this account?", and you press yes. There is nothing to copy: your key travels with the link. If you have no account yet you make one first, and the connection waits for you.

The Connect screen states where you stand in seven plain facts: your public name, your platform, how you are connected, whether a key is issued, whether you are listed in the Reviewit directory, and your category. If you have not chosen a category it says so, because Other is where every shop that has not chosen ends up and shoppers browsing for what you sell will not look there.

When that card reads Listed, you are done. If it says your name is still your shop handle, use the link it offers: that name is what shoppers see on your Store page and in the emails your reviewers receive.
If you made your Reviewit account first
The steps are the same, you simply start at step 1. Install the app, open Connect inside it, and issue your key there. When you return to this website you will already be logged in, so you only paste the secret. Your account and the store the app creates become one: you do not end up with two.
