Cookie policy
How Reviewit, a product of Try Reviewit Ltd, uses cookies and similar technologies.
This cookie policy explains how Reviewit uses cookies and similar technologies on tryreviewit.com. It should be read together with our privacy policy.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit. They let the site remember your actions and preferences, such as staying logged in, and they help the site work securely. Similar technologies, such as local storage and pixels, do much the same job. We refer to all of these as cookies in this policy.
The cookies Reviewit uses
- Strictly necessary cookies: needed to log you in, keep your session active, protect against fraud and keep the service secure. The service cannot work properly without them, so they do not require consent.
- Preference cookies: remember choices you make, such as your display settings, so the service behaves the way you expect.
- Analytics cookies: these help us understand how the site is used so we can improve it. They are set only if you accept them, and they do not identify you personally. We are not using any at the time of writing, which is why none are listed in the table below; if that changes this policy and the table change with it.
Advertising measurement
We advertise Reviewit on Google. When you arrive from one of our adverts, the link carries a click identifier. If you accept advertising cookies we store that identifier for 90 days, and against your account if you create one, for a single purpose: to know which advert brought you here, so we can tell which of our advertising is worth paying for.
Nothing is requested from Google before you choose. Google’s measurement tag is not loaded, and no request of any kind is made to Google, until you accept analytics or advertising cookies. If you decline, or simply never answer, no Google code runs on this site at all. This is stricter than the common practice of loading the tag immediately with its permissions switched off, and we have chosen it so that this page needs no small print.
That includes fonts. We serve our own from this domain rather than loading them from Google, because a font stylesheet fetched from Google sends your IP address to Google on every page whether you have agreed to anything or not. We use no Google Maps, no reCAPTCHA and no embedded Google content anywhere on the site.
| Cookie | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|
| reviewit_consent | Remembers your cookie choice, whatever you chose, including a refusal. | 12 months |
| reviewit_gclid | The Google click identifier, so we can tell which advert brought you here. This row is about the COOKIE on your device. If you create an account we also store the identifier on that account, which is a separate record with a different lifetime: see Advertising measurement in our privacy policy. | 90 days (cookie) |
| Google _gcl_* | Set by Google’s tag, only once you have accepted advertising cookies. | Up to 90 days |
You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the Cookie choices link in the footer of every page. Withdrawing advertising consent deletes the click identifier we stored.
Managing cookies
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings, and you can set your browser to warn you before a cookie is stored. Most browsers let you block cookies from specific sites or all sites. Please note that if you block strictly necessary cookies, parts of Reviewit, such as logging in, may not work. You can also change or withdraw your consent for analytics and advertising cookies at any time, using the Cookie choices link in the footer of every page.
Changes to this policy
We may update this cookie policy from time to time. When we make a material change we will update the date on this page. Please check back so that you are aware of any changes.
